Random HOLIDAY GIFTS Questions!

If I can’t get an actual gift card I have sometimes just written a card saying what the gift is and then include the back up documents in the card.

Yes, except if they don’t have them! I checked one Kroger too - I’m just not in the store much!

I’ve got two weeks I’ll get it worked out! I can be persistent that way…

IMO, 2.5 qt is quite small; I’d go bigger. If there is a 4-5 qt available on sale, I’d go for that. I’m cooking for 2, and while I love my 2 3/4 qt Scanpan IQ pot, I find that it is just barely large enough to make oatmeal for a couple of days.

I always suggested that people buy one a little bigger than they actually think they need (I used to work at WS). You don’t have to fill it but when you need the extra volume a small one can’t be overfilled.

We’re exchanging “experience” gifts this year. Each person buys one experience for two (dinner out, zoo membership, theatre tickets, etc.). The recipient is not known until the day of the exchange. They can trade with each other, but their tastes are so wildly different, it has been much harder to find something anyone would appreciate. At least they all live in the same area. Dinner out is probably the easiest. We were considering play tickets, or wine tasting, museum membership, etc. No gift cards for most of these. Some (such as a museum membership) would require the names in advance. If you don’t know who will ultimately receive the gift (or their schedules), what might be a creative way to print and/or wrap the “experience”, which would then be purchased in their name after-the-fact?

Purchase something from their gift shop with their name on it? Something inexpensive like a magnet or pen or something and wrap that?

We often buy Amazon gift cards (and print at home) for the nieces and nephews. Sometimes also for the kids - I like to print the item we had in mind but let them make final choice. The first one is the hardest, as you learn the method. It’s not hard… just involves waiting a few minutes (or longer when they are really busy) to get the email confirming ready to print.

Per PJs, sweatshirts etc …. if you have a smaller adult female, sometimes you can buy Boys size 18-20. That works especially well if you have a sports fan, like our Broncos nut daugher. One year we got her Men’s size small Bronco pj bottoms. They were a little long, but she loved that they had pockets.
