Yeah, I know it’s a pretty strange question… but I hate bees. Does the SLO area have a lot of bees buzzing around? It seems as though the weather there would seem perfect for high bee populations :/

Why, are you allergic to them? My guess is that spring would bring the highest number of bees, but even then it’s not that much. I live in southern california and we do have bees, but not enough to create any kind of a problem. I’m guessing it’s similar in central california…

If it’s the buzzing that bothers you, I think the cicadas would be much more worrisome…

Ha, wow, yeah that is a random question.
I’ve not noticed significant amounts of bees. Maybe a few when the wildflowers are out, but nothing bad.

All the cow manure stink keeps the bees away. (smile)

You can find beekeepers in the surrounding area, but they aren’t bad around town or campus. It’s much worse up in the Sierras during summer. They are buzzing around everywhere up there in the pine/fir trees.

There are a few tarantulas and rattlesnakes up in the hills; I know because I have been hiking in them since I was a kid. I would worry about those more (I know the tarantulas won’t hurt me, but they still freak me out when I stumble upon them). There is a lot of pollen in the spring too. Cry me a river; live with it. The benefits outweigh the downfalls by far in the SLO area, unless you crave urban expanses.

W tf? Do you have Apiphobia or something?

I couldn’t care less about spiders and snakes. I know they’re more dangerous, but bees man… can’t stand em!

hi, i go to cal poly currently and there really aren’t many bees unless of course you’re near flowers. but most of the campus is grassy, so you’ll be fine
