We are finishing a lab tomorrow in chemistry, and I was wondering if I can put a flask on a hot plate? Is it just like putting a beaker on a hot plate? I would have asked my teacher but she said she wasn't helping anyone.. so yeah. Since heat speeds up reactions, I wanted to try that out. I know it's a silly question, but anything will do. Thanks

I seem to recall having done that in AP Chem, but I was terrible in lab (I got 3400% error one time, burned my friend’s hand another, and spilled salt and sugar everywhere this other time) so don’t take my word for it

Ahaha… I thought you meant flask as in the alcoholic kind just from reading the thread title. Silly me.

Yes, we’ve been using flasks to mix biodiesel in my Alternative Energies class.

^^ I totally did at first too. I was like “classic Brown students, heating up their whiskey”, and then I was like, “wait, this is HSL…”

Oh I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear lol. But thanks guys. :)
