random question... (for current students)

about how much a month, on average, do you spend at Notre Dame? This includes laundry, toiletries, starbucks, off-campus meals, weekend activities, etc. i have some saved up, im just wondering what i'll need no matter what school i go to...

Dang, I am not the one to ask because I don't drink alcohol and don't go off-campus all that much so that saves me a lot of money! With Starbucks and what not all of that is covered by the extra meal dollars I have on my meal plan so none of that is out of pocket though I know I am still paying for it, lol. If you look at everything else, after what I already pay in tuition and room and board and what not I probably spend $5 a week or less on average. If you order in more than I do (I do it very rarely) or go out more then that changes things but for me I just usually hang on campus because a lot goes on here if you aren't looking for a huge party.

I agree with Irish... Flex Points save me because they work at Starbucks the Huddle BK Subway and Sbarro. I do laundry maybe every other week... but that isnt all that expensive... maybe $6-$7 ( but you can use Domer Dollars from the parents, haha). Even including that.. I don't go off campus all that often but I'd say something along the lines of $5-10/ week.

Also, though I don't drink often at all.. for those who do... usually at on-campus parties beer is paid for by the people hosting the party.... so unless you're going off-campus or hosting your own it shouldn't be too big of a worry.

My son occasionally buys beer, has a girlfriend and thus eats out once in awhile, and he probably spends less than $100/month. You really learn to stretch it.

Occasionally is something of an understatement, haha (her son lives in my dorm).

So you are a Rambler mhawk? It is always kind of fun to hear where people are on-campus. I am sorry you are stuck up by North Quad on Mod however! South is where it is at!

Mod Quad Rocks... We're right by the library (good for me)... Rolfs > The Rock, plus I genuniely really like NDH and the atmosphere there (though I eat at South 2x a week).
Oh.. and our dorms are bigger and we have air conditioning!!!

I used to live in O'Neill with the wonder that is air conditioning and I do miss it! Then again, since it refuses to warm up in South Bend right now, it isn't too bad of a situation for me :). One thing I am jealous of is your rector; I love Fr. John is awesome!

Here's what my situation was...My parents helped with gas to get too and from South Bend a lot of the time. When I was up here I was on my own in terms of expenses such as food and whatnot (exlcude textbooks). I worked on average 10-15 hours a week on campus until Senior year. Because of certain factors I was averaging anywhere between 20-35 hours a week for a large chunk of 1st semester, up till a week or so before spring break. My schedule meant I ended up eating food off-campus a lot. Still managed to be saving money though. It's entirely possible for $40-60 dollars to last you a week or more if you eat out, depending on how lavish you go.

Truth be told I probably spend between 100-200 a month, but I easily support myself with money made from on-campus employment...

Oh and if anyone was going to point out that student emplyees are not supposed to exceed 20 hours a week, well I've never had one thing said to me. Then again the way my employment centers are coded it isn't as though I could be challenged.

Okay, mhawk, I'm telling him you told me! Just kidding - but just a little worried now... :)

No need to be worried! I was kidding.. and I already told him actually!

due to flex points and such i would say i spend on average $20 a month. that mostly because I dont drink coffee, i only do laundry like every 3 weeks, and im a girl so parties are free.
