Random Question

Chicago is my first choice school. Unfortunately I will not be able to apply EA, due to testing and some other reasons.

Is there any way I can convey to Chicago that it is my top-choice school or my interest besides writing it in my essays?

Are you able to visit the school or do an on-campus interview? Attend a college admissions expo near you in which you can chat with people from the office? That can help you demonstrate your interest.

<a href="http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/level2.asp?id=51%5B/url%5D">http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/level2.asp?id=51</a> might have some helpful information for you

At the end of the day, I think the reasons why you want to attend Chicago are much more compelling than how much you might want to attend.

You can mention in your application that Chicago is your first place school, but you must be completely sure that it definitely is. Admissions officers like that because they know that if they accept you, you'll go, meaning that yield predictions won't be a crapshoot.

Don't mention it if its not your first choice though, because while they can't do anything against you if you don't go to UChicago after saying so (even if its for financial reasons), its going to affect future applicants from your school.

I do not think Chicago is a school that tracks, or considers, interest in its decisions. FWIW, most top schools could care less that you think the place is your top choice. Chicago, not being yield obsessed, seems to care less than that.

I'm puzzled by the OP's reason for not applying EA. EA at Chicago seems like a freebie, one that takes only a little advance planning.

OTOH, there is no evidence that it is easier to get in to Chicago via EA than RD anyway, so what's the worry?

You said on another thread that you have an SAT/ACT of 2350/35 so why exactly are you retesting?

SATII's.

I've only taken 2 so far, 1 score is acceptable and the other is horrible.

And, I wont be able to take in October because I will be forced to be out of town during that week.

Chicago doesn't care much about SAT IIs.....

see <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=215393&page=7&highlight=SAT%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=215393&page=7&highlight=SAT</a></p>

From Libby Pearson, admissions officer: "Right, we don't look at writing. We also don't require (and subsequently don't much look at) SAT IIs."

By writing she means the newish SAT I writing score.

If I take SATII's in November, will Chicago accept it?

Yes, if you're not applying EA.

Oh, I was talking about EA.

I read somewhere that they will accept November scores.
