Is there anyone who has gotten into a decent UC within this past year with about a 3.7-3.8 UC GPA. If so, what was special in your application, i.e–extra curriculars, high SAT scores

I am primarily wondering for those who got into

My friend who applied out of high school got in with a 3.2.

Mostly because of his heavy involvement in FFA. A lot of speech competitions, community service, farming projects etc etc. He was a leader in his chapter, and he raised a guide dog for the blind.

He also included some travels he did during senior year.

I just applied last year, heading into my first year of college this fall…
I had a 3.375 UC GPA.
1900 SAT 28 ACT
760 SAT2 Math
680 SAT2 Physics
i got into… ucd, ucsb, ucsd, ucsc… and supplemental questionnaires from both UCB and UCLA.

I think I’m just lucky O_O I don’t know too many other people with grades like mine who got as lucky as I did. but I did do some extra curricular… not much tho… ~200 hours volunteer, violinist, upward bound program… not much haha

I had…
3.74-ish UC GPA
2170 SAT I, 740 Math IIC, 730 U.S. History
1 AP/1 Honors (10th), 1 AP/1 Honors (11th), 3.5 AP (12th)
National Merit Finalist (Semifinalist at the time I applied), small art awards from county fair
various ECs, a little volunteering, one small leadership position (treasurer)
one decent essay, one bad essay

Applied to UCB (undecided L&S), UCLA (design), UCSD (biological sciences), UCD (design), UCI (business administration), rejected by all, later gained admission to UCR and UCM.
Appealed to UCLA, UCD, UCI, sent in portfolio/artwork as part of my appeal, accepted by UCD (design) and UCI (biological sciences).
