do the dorms have AC and heating systems?

Yes. But you can’t control the temp. They are set to certain temperatures by the maintenance staff.

oh. thanks. ( i have no opportunity to visit until i go for orientation so i am trying to find out as much as possible before then so that it is not as much of a shock.)

If you want to know anything just send me a PM

okay thanks :)

when are we supposed to fill out/send the FAFSA to Bowdoin?

The financial aid application for regular decision is February 15th. Here’s Bowdoin’s financial aid site: [Student Aid (Bowdoin)](<a href=“Student Aid | Bowdoin College”>Student Aid | Bowdoin College)

And here are the filing instructions: <a href=“Student Aid | Bowdoin College”>Student Aid | Bowdoin College;

i live in africa, and the last time i truly experienced snow and cold i was 8… this may seem like a stupid question, but what kind of clothes would i need most when it comes to winter? i mean what is the essential clothing item? all i have are cut off jeans and tank tops :s

Hey!

What you really want is layers. A big puffy jacket on top of a t-shirt won’t really keep you warm. Better is something like a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, a scarf, and then a snow jacket. On the East coast it starts to get chilly in mid-october, and usually starts to snow sometime in November. September will be warmer ( just a little cooler than summer) so you can bring some of your warm-weather clothes for then. But it gets chilly fast. Really good things to have are scarves, sweaters (wool is MUCH warmer than cotton), basic or patterned long sleeve shirts for layering, maybe a down vest, a big, warm down jacket, and some pants (jeans are perfect, cords are good too). In the winter months, you may need to wear them all at once! Oh and some boots and tennis shoes (sandals will definitely not fly after october!) And don’t forget a pair of gloves!

Good luck at Bowdoin!

haha alexab when I read the part about the sandles, i remembered my tour guide last winter. it was november (really cold!) and he was wearing shorts and flip flops. everyone else was wearing huge coats and hats and were still freezing.

since Bowdoin doesn’t require standardized test scores when you apply but uses them for placement, when should I send in my test scores?

Also, when would I get info about dorms and all of that good stuff?

When you stay in Bowdoin, do you get to survive at Siberia naked for 3 months?
