RANDOM questions bout UCI..

so i have a bunch of random questions about Irvine I would like answered. Please answer any you can:
1) what is a normal course load, like how many classes per semester (not units), to graduate in four years?

2) and with that normal course load, how many times per day will i have class? high school status, or just one to two classes per day?

3) Is there class on Friday? (stupid question i know)

4) Instead of carrying a backpack, can I just use a big tote bag?

5) Are the students really competitive?

6) Is the first year really that hard? or is there just a big hype surrounding it?

7) Would you invest in a disneyland pass? or is there no time to go?

8) How do you add a minor? And what if its a hard minor such as accounting or management and your major is not in the Paul Merge Business School. Is that okay?

I think that's it....for now. THANKS. (:

OH! 9) how would you recommend organizing myself? binder per class? or one big binder with tabs? or just folders?

Average courseload per quarter is around 15 units. 16 Units is 4 classes.

This will depend on your schedule. Classes (lectures) you usually have either Tues and Thurs 1.5 hr each, or MWF 1 hr each. Then for most classes you have discussion sections, which are typically an hour per week, but for math discussion, they are 2 hrs/week.

Again, depends on your schedule. But usually you will, especially if you have MWF classes. That said, you don’t always have to attend lecture :]. The responsibility is yours.

Sure you can use a tote bag… there’s no rule that says you need a backpack.

You’ll find competitive students anywhere you go. But most are down-to-earth.

First year difficulty depends on how you are able to adapt to college lifestyle. It also depends on what kind of classes you take, so its subjective.

There’s always time to go to disneyland, especially if you’re a first year. Invest in one if you wish.

You “add” a minor by applying for it and taking the required classes necessary in order to apply (fulfilling the pre-reqs). Minors ARE usually for students who are not majors in that respective school. I’m in the accounting minor, and I’m a business econ major.

I’d go with those notebooks that have folders at the ends that you can stick papers in, one for each class.

pm me if you have any more questions.

I agree with the above And want to add for number eight make you get A high gpa if you want to get into the management and accounting minors or else it will be much harder
