Random question- surely there is a thread about the PG&E blackouts in Nor Cal. (since its also causing classes to be cancelled at Cal and some other schools). Where is the thread?
Mr.'s dark joke- there might be bigger blackouts…

Yowl. Ouch.
Funny, I just came on here to look for the thread. Is there one?
I don’t think so. Let’s start!! Mr says the only county unaffected by this is San Francisco county. Ouch.
Ok I started one in the cafe
Thanks, jym!
My random question for the day: are GA, SC or NC any less humid than Florida in the non-summer months?
@collage1, it’s my opinion that the more north you go, the less humid it is, or said another way, you have fewer months of high humidity.
Also, different parts of the state can have different temps/humidity. If you’re in the mountains of NC, it’s going to feel different than the NC shore.
This chart gives you averages for many cities. Orlando’s average high humidity is 90%, then again, so is Asheville’s.
Here’s a fun map that gives you the relative humidity of the whole country (lower 48), for this moment: (going north doesn’t seem to help)

@greenwitch, those links were both great, particularly the second one. Thank you very much.
The second one is current info so only one data point in time, right now. So, if it is currently raining somewhere you’ll get 100% humidity.
Yeah, it’s been pouring in DC all day and tonight’s ALCS game in NYC has been canceled due to the rain, so those humidity numbers are a little high right now!
Two random questions. Why do the car speedometers still go to way over 100 mph? Can you really safely drive a car that fast without it falling apart? Also, do people still use radar detectors? I remember hearing about them in college but not since.
Well, at least one defendant in court was indignant at the speed the officer wrote on his ticket and said he was going well over 100mpg, so I’m guessing yes, care CAN go over 100mph without breaking apart. Now of course I can’t think of anywhere in our state where they SHOULD go anywhere near that speed!
Seems like they should have an app for radar detection these days…
But I haven’t heard of anyone using a radar detector for many years.
You can definitely go over 100 MPH. There are lots of performance cars built these days.
Some GPS apps have ystem notifications when there’s radar nearby. Or police.
My GPS alerts
me when there is a speed trap ahead.
My 9 year old minivan has a speedometer that goes up to 160 mph (lol), but I can’t really see the difference between going 22 mph and 24 mph unless I put on my reading glasses (which I shouldn’t do while driving…) and if I hit 24 on certain streets at certain times I can get a $125 camera ticket.
I’d much rather have a smaller and easier to read speedometer. And not digital.
Has anyone changed their Costco card to another additional person. We have H and me but wanted to add D instead of H?
It is way too easy to speed in a Tesla. I was going over 90 in an 80 in Idaho. And yesterday in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The roads are so wide open it is hard to not speed in Utah and Idaho.
