Random Questions

When mine started shutting off randomly at 30% and draining fast, I replaced the battery. I have a 6, still working well.

The battery question on charging is more of a myth. There are ways to calibrate your phone battery etc. Batteries normally lose charge ability overtime /usage.

If draining… Find out which application is causing it. Hint /Facebook is a culprit and there are lighter version of it. You can find out what is using the battery either under the battery tab in settings or app tabs. Shut off or delete things your not using. There are other tricks but this is a good place to start.

So updating my windows 7 computers at work on a network. The upgrade is free via Microsoft. But if you need your product keys go to Nirsoft. Download the prod key one. Follow instruction. It’s super easy. It gives you all the product keys on your computer plus other good stuff.

I downloaded the Microsoft upgrade to windows 10 and put it on a USB drive (thumb drive). Now I can go computer to computer and do the update. Did one today incase of problems. Just had to reset a printer. It went too well… Lol ?.

I had to turn off lots of settings so it would not upload via cortana patient information to the web. I would turn these off regardless.

I have never looked under the battery tab in Settings. Very interesting!

Lots of phones have settings like adaptive battery under settings /battery. Lots of things you can do to extend the battery life depending on your phone and software.

My cell is maybe 4 years old now and the battery is fine- meaning, for that age, we expect some limits. I charge it as needed or when I anticipate upcoming heavy use soon.

A lot of the advice to only charge at certain levels or whatever is OLD, for older generations of batteries. You can google…

Yes, you can watch those settings, shut down certain apps or what’s running in the background/unneeded, and more. My biggest drain is when leave a place where I was on mobile data, the phone switches to wifi (at home, eg,) but forget to disable mobile.

@lookingforward. Some phones have settings to turn that off but there is an application for that (of course there is… Lol) that when you enter your house as an example that it switches automatically to what you set it to do. The name escapes me but it’s been out for like 15 years… I think it was bought out and some company baked it into their system.

Different phones have different ways to accomplish this. I am on a Pixel 3A and this happens automatically once I walk into my house the Wi-Fi comes on my phone as the primary source.

Something like that.

Yes and I’m preset to choose wifi. But at times, the mobile data self turns on, as well. I find I need to check that. When I watch power decrement too quickly, it’s often my first clue that dang MD is also on.

Also turn down the screen brightness. That is a killer for battery life.

If you have dark mode use it. I actually prefer it.

Turn on adaptive battery settings if you have it.

Turn off notifications on apps you don’t need or want. This can take time but it’s totally worth it.

Delete and uninstall programs you don’t use all the time or need. Many just keep running in the background sipping your battery life.

Turn off Bluetooth when not using it. Big killer of battery and think can set to automatically turn on /off. I can like when I am in my car it automatically turns on type of thing. But turn it off when not in use.

Turn off Wi-Fi when sleeping if you don’t need it.

Sorry… Just geeked out here… Lol.

If you have an iPhone, you can take it to Apple & have them help you reduce your battery use by working with you to turn things off and adjust settings. If you have another brand, perhaps your carrier’s Store Can help you.

Do you toss your toothbrush after a cold?

No. They’re my germs. They’re not going to re-infect me.

No, but I would probably run it thru the dishwasher!

If your have a viral infection, there is no need to discard your toothbrush. (I will let it sit for a little while in a cup of 1/2 water and 1/2 clorox). If you have a bacterial infection, you should replace the brush as you can be reinfected. Also, I would suggest that each person should be using their own toothpaste. A viral infection can be passed to another person via the toothpaste.

Huh. Who knew. Obviously not me!

We each have our own toothpaste because my slightly OCD husband doesn’t like the way I squeeze the tube.

I had a dental hygienist tell me last year that toothbrushes should be replaced every month. Never heard that one in my 50+ years. She must own stock in Oral B.

I replace my electric toothbrush head every two months, at my hygienist’s recommendation. But she also has me brush my teeth for three minutes, not two, each time.

Mine’s a big proponent of the sort with soft bristles. Apparently, the right cleaning and stimulation, but easier on the gums. I found so many soft ones are smaller heads. This time, she gave me a freebie that’s a full rectangular head. Like it.

@VeryHappy I can’t wait until my electric toothbrush gets to the two minute mark; I don’t know if I could handle 3 minutes! There are times where I am sure mine must have malfunctioned and went beyond 2 minutes as it seemed forever
