@lookingforward - Interesting statement. Top results usually get me where I want to go.
Along the lines of Nrdsb4’s comment…why do I feel that lots of celebs are just batsh#t crazy and just think “knew it!” when such stories come up. I’m torn between thinking I know what crazy in my family looks like and the fact that I am an introvert being the answer.
I assume, @Nrdsb4, that because of medical privacy laws, media puts outs put the press agent’s story in the absence of knowing the truth or the unofficial diagnosis.
My random and related questions: Why do we have so much celebrity worship? Why do there seem to be more narcissists out there these days? And why are so many people drawn to them?
Celebrities can pay for admission for exhaustion. Not the rest of us, lol. And their wings, wards, or floors are often all about privacy. I’m reminded of that floor at ucla hosp that even med students couldnt get onto. Special card access, etc. No loose lips.
I was a psych RN in NYC years ago. We had an amenities unit. Think 500 thread count sheets, private chef, massage therapists. Most of our famous patients–and I could name many–were treated for exhaustion
Am assuming it was all private pay since many might come in under a pseudonym and there is no mental health diagnosis of “exhaustion” :^o
Personally, I would find being a celebrity very exhausting.
Isn’t it wonderful to be anonymous?
@kandcsmom: “I was a psych RN in NYC years ago.Think 500 thread count sheets, private chef, massage therapists.”
You’d be nuts not to sign on (and in) for that.
If that is supposed to be funny… it’s not. Mental health issues are not funny. People really suffer. They aren’t nuts. Please be respectful.
I was trying to be funny, in light of the tone and raised eyebrows being cast at celebrity hospitalizations.
I know far too well what mental health issues can do to a life, and the lives of those who depend on that life. That is how I learned to laugh, jym, making some of the people who did not get the 500 thread count treatment smile, or step out of their guarded and troubled shadow selves for a few seconds long enough to tell me they knew that I was making “a funny.”
And, no, they aren’t nuts. I know that.
I have worked in the field for decades, and honestly, there are better things to joke about. JMO.
I hear you, jym, and I know where you’re coming from.
Why do people choose to use threads for messaging that excludes some crucial folks, like brothers? It boggles my mind, as I think the brothers need to be kept informed about our parents’ health, not just the sisters.
@jym626 Correct on both counts. Many had underlying metal health issues, as do many non-famous people. Usually the issue was a medication adjustment or people self-medicating
I don’t think celebrities have ANY obligation to reveal hospitalizations or diagnoses. I just don’t see the point of announcing it, then lying about it. Just say nothing, or if questioned, say “In the interest of celebrity’s privacy, we have no comment. Celebrity appreciates your concern and respect at this time and hopes to resume work soon.”
Anyone have a good recipe for turkey bone soup?
@jym626 - did you have an Instantpot? I have been making great chicken stock in my mine from leftover carcasses. If I had turkey bones I would do the same.
DS does not have one. Gift idea!
He will love it! My tip - give him a can of Barkeeper’s Friend powder with the pot if he does not have it. It is the best cleaning powder for the ss insert of the Instapot, keeps it looking shiny and new.
