As for cleaning: yes, Mrs. Meyers isn’t bad. I personally like the smell of things cleaned with vinegar.

I use Method cleaner. I like the grapefruit smell, but they don’t appear to have an unscented. They do have unscented laundry detergent.

Yes, I always use unscented laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, hand and face lotions, etc. I don’t use dryer sheets or fabric softener because they smell. I use unscented trash bags. Anything I can buy unscented, I do.

VH, I boil white vinegar and water after cooking fish. If you are ok with a strong vanilla smell you can boil
vanilla and water. When some idiot heats leftover fish in the microwave I boil vanilla and water.

I had to ask a GF not to hug me hello. Her perfume would get on my hair and neck and I
would be miserable all day.

I get pedicure but ask never to have the scented leg scrub–just means a shower when I get
home.

When my family complains I remind them that they think I am an amazing cook and that
is in a large part because I can smell.

Ok crowd sourcing for ideas:

I get medicine shipments with freezer packs to keep them cool. I have given away as many as I can but I still have a ton left over since I get so many. It seems a shame to throw them away because they’re good freezer packs- not cheap ones or anything.

Anyone have ideas of what I can do with them?

I wonder if meals on wheels could use the freezer packs.

^ Oh good idea! I reached out to a bunch of pantries today but didn’t think about MOW. I’ll contact them.

Someone on our NextDoor was recently asking for them as they wanted to keep their freezer totally full
to save electricity…
You might post on your NextDoor to see if anyone has a use for them.

@romanigypsyeyes , watching replies to your question, H also gets shipments of meds, with freezer packs inside a STYROFOAM COOLER. I feel so bad throwing them out. I put them on my local Facebook “swap” site for free but nobody bit.

Our local animal shelters look for stuff like that in the summer to help keep dogs cool—but you probably aren’t in a place like AZ where the asphalt actually melts.

I had 15 years of monthly shipments of styrofoam coolers and ice packers, and I never found a good (or any) home for them. I also felt bad throwing them out.

What about local ice cream places that might want them for take outs? Local fish store that sells fresh seafood? Florist?

I sent out emails to several churches and meals on wheels last night. I’m going to give those a few days to see if anyone responds. I’d rather they go to charities if at all possible.

I had put them up on my local facebook buy & sell page but no one wanted them.

Luckily mine don’t come in styrofoam. They come in these metalic (aluminum?) insulated pouches that remind me of something astronauts would use lol. The rest of the IV things are just in a plastic bag underneath the medicine.

List on freecycle or craigslist “for free” as well, maybe? We got rid of dozens of old tennis balls that way. A guy who was a physical therapist gives them a second life on walkers and such. Good to get another use before heading to the landfills.

I just ordered some vitamin D from Amazon. Never again because the excessive packaging made me feel so guilty. They included an ice pack, too.

Tennis balls?? Take them to your local dog park.

Wonder if Doctors Without Borders or similar would like them? They’re a nonprofit.

Our local packaging/shipping store has happily taken any styrofoam coolers we’ve received either from prescription shipments or from shipments of food products. He finds them very useful to have on hand in his business. And I’m happy to find a new home for them rather than putting in the trash.

I too get medication with freezer packs and a small styrofoam cooler. I’ve decided to go pick it up so I won’t have all that packaging but… I offered the 5 I still had lying around on Next Door and someone wanted them. She said small coolers are just perfect for the jello shots she’s in charge of providing for 3 different floats in a Mardi Gras parade. Hey, you never know what needs are out there!

Wow. When I had my chocolate business, I used to have to buy such things! Would have loved to have them free!

I still have to buy them when I’m sending something to someone as a personal favor, which i occasionally do.

Heard back from most of the food pantries (churches) and all declined :frowning: Still waiting on meals on wheels.

I sent a request to Next Door to join my neighborhood (or whatever they group you into). I can post on there if I need to. I’ll also try freecycle and craigslist.

I just want these things to go to good homes lol.
