-no. there are DEFINITELY a good number of people who are obsessed with sports and partying. but remember, there are 25,000 undergrad students. there are also tons of people who are not into sports, or not into partying, or not into either. i like to use the greek life example... 13% of the campus is involved in greek life. for those who are in it, 13% of 25,000 is a lot of people, and it's great fun. but for those who aren't into that scene, you're still in the 87% vast majority of students.

-there are plenty of dorm parties. i haven't lived on campus in a couple years but we used to party in the dorms a lot. as a first-semester freshman it's harder to find off-campus parties without having good connections, but once you start meeting people you find out about them a lot more.

-completely depends on the RA. i had two great ones who never bothered us, but i know of people whose RA would come knock on the door and write them up if they heard a party going on.

-i'm not really sure about this one. i know people DO go clubbing in DC who aren't 21; there are plenty of 18-and-up clubs where you just can't buy drinks. a lot of people do have fake IDs. a couple of the bars in college park aren't that strict on IDs (easier for girls than guys though).

-eh. it's hard to generalize about 25,000 people.

-not sure about that one. the gay friends i have aren't actively involved in any LGBT clubs or anything, although i know there are some.

-i liked it! now that i'm off-campus i find myself wanting a meal plan again so i don't have to cook. there's a lot of variety, although around the beginning of second semester it gets pretty repetitive because you always tend to eat the same things. of course, you could force yourself to try new things which would eliminate that problem. anyway, i liked it.

-from experience (not just mine!!), yes. but some people aren't into hooking up randomly, and don't.

-typically, junior year. if they move into a fraternity/sorority house it's often sophomore year. there's a lot of off-campus housing superclose to the university which is nice.

-yeah. i'm not from one of those high schools so it was really weird for a couple months to be like "oh you know so-and-so?? he went to blair with me too!" and you hear all these names get thrown around. but it's not a big deal-- most people don't live with their friends from high school and are very open to meeting new people.

whew. you're welcome!
