If anyone could answer these, it would be much appreciated!

Which bed and desk and closet is the best in the triple? And by best, I mean, most space, most convenient, most light, etc. i'm moving into a triple in Hedrick and am a bit worried about how cramped I'll be with two other roommates... Can you mix and match desks/beds/closets?

When should I buy my textbooks/where from? Will it be too late to wait till after I've started the class. The thing is I'm waitlisted for three of my four classes and also probably only want to take three classes IF I end up even getting in my waitlists, so I'm not sure whether or not to buy books.

I'm signed up to be a move in assistant, but I"m a freshman. Does this mean I won't be able to attend any of the freshman activities and stuff like that? Anyone done it before?

for bed/desk picking i wrote some of my personal experience on how to pick in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/769233-move-dates-2.html#post1063156646</a> post #18

you can buy book at ackerman, i normally buy book after class has started because the professor will most likely discuss if the book is needed during the first day plus i got too lazy to go down to campus just to buy a book lol

as for move in assistant, you won’t miss out on freshman activities but why did you sign up for it? afterall it is more important to know the hill well before you give directions to hundreds of parents that have no idea where to go yet i can’t imagine any 1st years to have too much knowledge on that…

THank you for the link! Very helpful. The loft bed wasn’t really discussed though… I heard it has the smallest closets tho? And I think you’re right about the move in assistant thing… But i’m already signed up… Eh… You’re only doing work before the 20th right?

There’s no assigned closet to go with each bed, so no, the loft doesn’t “have the smallest closet.” Unless you just mean the closet under the loft, which is smaller. I think there are probably well over 10 discussions about the question of which bed/desk/closet is best, so I am certain you didn’t bother to search first. Search the forum (get posts, not threads, because these questions are often buried in long threads), and you’ll get dozens of opinions and explanations of best bed/desk/closet.

yeah like saltybruin12 said, theres no assigned closet, i had the loft bed last year with the desk next to the bed and the closet next to it while my roommate who had the bottom bed had the desk and closet under the loft, he did ran out of room but he just put some of the cloth he rarely wears (dress shirts, suit) into my other roommate’s bigger closet

as for MIA, you help decorate the halls from tue to thursday then work on helping people move in (directions, carts, elevators) on friday sat and sun…

im doing fsp right now, and i think having the top bunk , big closet and desk next to the bunk is the best, cuz people dont sit on your bed and you get the big drawers, and you arent facing the lights when your roommates pull all-nighters

i might buy some of my books in westwood at textbook plus, theyre slightly cheaper than ackerman, but check the books before you buy them, my chem book was missing a periodic table =/

are you doing MIA for sproul? cuz im doing it too! only, ive been here all summer, so i kinda know my way around…

Nah, I’m in Hedrick Hall. Yeah, I’d wanted to move in early so that I could get to know my way around. I couldn’t go to orientation so this’ll actually be my first day on campus
