So I applied to a school during my senior year, and I was accepted for fall 2008. However, I decided NOT to attend that university. One year later, I think I want to go there for fall 2009. I'm confident that I have the grades, but do you think that they'll accept me the second time around? Maybe they'll think I'm a waste of time and not accept (they offered me a nice scholarship last time).

Also during the transfer process, is it possible that schools still will have my senior year transcript if I already applied? Or any other materials for that matter.

schools will not have your materials from your last application.

i don't think the fact that you didn't attend after you were accepted for freshman admissions will hurt you so long as you express adequate desire to attend the school this time around.

however, do not anticipate on getting the same kind of scholarship, if any kind of scholarship, this time around

dufflebag, please make sure you actually have knowledge on these topics before your reply.

From first hand experience:

Some schools will have your previous materials on hand. You can simply call each school to ask what you will need to re-submit and what they have retained. It varies by school and they will not be annoyed by your call.

Frequently applicants who turned down a freshman acceptance are accepted again for transfer. I have seen this a number of times and my own S had this happen for at least two schools.

You may not get merit aid again, though. Many schools don't offer it for transfer. My S was accepted a second time to one school where he had received substantial merit aid for freshman admission. No aid offered as transfer. He chose another school, so we didn't appeal/lobby for merit aid the second time... No idea if that would have worked.

Good luck. Most schools will not hold it against you in any way that you didn't come the first time.

Yep, dufflebag couldn't be more wronger. This happened to me at Appalachian State University and NC State University. Both schools, after a year, had my s.a.t. scores, my personal information and so on. Basically, if you applied electronically with a username then your good to go. Just resubmit for Fall '09 and send that fat application fee. Unfortunately this happened to me. Good luck.

Check with the specific school to make sure, but most schools keep your application materials for at least one full year, and many keep them for two years.
