My brother is a freshman at a very prestigious high school in Michigan and he is in Algebra 1,but for his sophomore year he wanted to take Geometry, but I think he should skip it and do Algebra 2.

What do you think he should take his sophomore year?

can he take both? I only took algebra and had to learn all geometry weeks before the sat which wasn't good :p. on the other hand algebra 2 is a must for calculus junior year

At my school, both are required (for university path students). My school does Algebra 2, then Geometry, but I took Geometry in 8th grade and Algebra 2 my freshman year and did fine. In other words, he can probably do it either way and be fine.

Geometry. Of course, he can enroll concurently, but it's a bit tough to juggle the two maths, especially if you've also got a science course on your hands.

Maybe he can take Geometry at a community college through summer school?

At my HS, Geometry was a prerequisite for Algebra II. I did have a friend who took both (he wanted to take Calculus as a senior). He's an above average student who is capable of balancing two tough classes, but at times his performance in Geometry would suffer because he thought Algebra II was more important. Just something to keep in mind.

I took algebra1 freshman year and wanted to get ahead to algebra 2 but they wouldnt let me so i took geometry and algebra 2 sophomore year it wasnt too bad, two different courses, got As in both, then i took pre-calc and now im in calc...
