I have a friend of Sudanese ancestry (thought born in the US) and had gone to international schools her entire life. Yet, her SAT Math and Verbal scores were both in the mid-high 500's.

But she got accepted into Carleton College (the one she ultimately enrolled in), Juniata College, Macalester, Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan, Uni of Rochester and another one I forgot. She got accepted by all colleges/universities she applied to and our college counselor put most of them as "reach" based PURELY on her SAT scores!

So I'll say that SAT scores don't matter so much. Sure, yeah, it'll be good to show you can read, write and do math, but we also have the TOEFL requirements and our high school transcript to offset low-ish SAT scores.

And everybody knows the TOEFL is damn easy.
