So, I'm a sophomore at a public high school outside of Austin, top six percent, and looking into Plan II at University of Texas at Austin. My predicament is that I plan on taking a year off, essentially, between junior and senior year to study abroad in Austria, with a legitimate organization and on a scholarship. Now I know that UT locks in you rank at the end of junior year, so would leaving after that year mean losing my spot at UT? Thanks to anyone for even the slightest bit of insight.</p>
<p>I would recommend that you call UT and ask them directly! They are very helpful. </p>
<p>I agree, it’s not like you are taking a year off to bum around. I think you could quite possibly sell them on what your plans are. Make your intentions known in a letter or in person. </p>
