is my senior year gpa considered when applying for colleges? I am wondering because I would probably be able to get my rank within the top ten percent if first and/or second quarter senior year is counted.
thanks

does anybody know the answer to this question?

Usually it is. Many schools ask for Mid-Year grade reports, and so those grades and their corresponding rank would be what your Regular Decision applications contained. Now, if you apply somewhere rolling decision or early admission, then your senior year grades would not be available, and not every college asks for a Mid-Year report. If you are aiming for highly selective colleges and are not within the top 10% by the end of this year, I would advise you to be wary of early admissions plans at those colleges. You would likely be better served waiting to RD and having your improved grades and rank be considered. Of course, it is always best to start pulling your rank up sooner than later--first shoot for the best possible grades and rank this quarter/semester, and then you can look ahead to next year.
