Rank Harvard's Houses

Maybe others can confirm this as a general school of thought?

more desirable (no particular order)

* Adams House
* Eliot House
* Kirkland House
* Lowell House
* Winthrop House

less desirable (no particular order)
* Quad
* Dunster House
* Leverett House
* Mather House
* Quincy House

LOL i guess quincy sucks to you, but why?

Patriot: I'd disagree with you on both Quincy and Leverett. I'm not sure why you would disklike Quincy, and while Leverett is a little farther away than most river houses, it's rather pretty and has a popular house Master, Howard Georgi.

Aesthetically, I do not think either Quincy or Leverett looks that good. Having said that, they are the best in that "less desirable" category I think, and certainly they are far from being "bad" Houses. Yes?

D just moved from Pfoho to Elliot for the summer. She is really disappointed. Said Pfoho had spoiled her. No more single, just like summer camp was her comment. Linoleum floors instead of hardwood. 5 floors up and no elevator made moving a pain. I guess if a view is more important than space, privacy, modern conveniences then the river is better than the quad.

Yes...here's the paradox about Pfoho: when you first get assigned there, it's the worse thing in the world. But...once you're there, leaving is hard because the accommodations are just better.
The pest infestations are also not as bad as the River Houses.
Anyway, this is coming from someone who hates Pfoho for cheating in Risk. Lowell prevails.

pest...infestations...on the river houses? okay, what kind of pests are we talking about? and please do not say rats. x(

Tons of cockroaches in Old Leverett last summer.

Adams d-hall has some mice (and apparently my roommate saw one in my room during moveout?). Haven't heard anything about rats.

Lol, that's a big factor in my estimation of which houses are desirable and which ones aren't. Dunster, for example, has has cockroach and mouse problems, whereas I've never had a problem in Kirkland. In general, as long as you're not on the ground floor most people don't have a problem.

Just to be clear, Pfoho did NOT cheat in Risk.

And if you want house community, live in the Quad. Seriously.

The quad itself is beautiful on the inside and out. But once you get inside a river house, the view out the window doesn't make up for what you actually have to live in.

And all river houses have pest problems.

I'd wouldn't trade the old, dark wood + high ceilings of my Adams rooms for the few extra square feet I'd get in the quad (or Mather, or Lev towers). Something to be said for having a room that feels like Harvard.

^Very, very true. :)
