Rank improvement for a senior, worth it/possible?

I am currently a senior and ranked 60 out of 200 in my class at at a competitive private school. 1) Do you think it would be possible to raise my rank 10 spaces so I am 50th in one semester? 2) As of now I am in the top 40% of my class and my school doesn't send rank to colleges, but they do send percentile. So if my rank increased 10 spots my percentile would be the top 25%. Would that help a lot?

I would ideally want to make this jump by the end of the first semester so its on my college apps

Schedule:

AP Gov
Honors Bio 2
Trig/advanced math (mid-level)
Honors spanish 3
Honors Religion
World literature (mid level)
Advanced Vocal Music 4 (ik haha, but I am one of the best singers at my school and I love it)

Additional info:

my cumulative GPA is 4.15 (5.0 scale)

my schedule has never been this tough, I can handle it fine, but it is more heavily weighted now, so that will help my effort to jump rank.

A lot of seniors take the lightest course loads possible, so that might help too.

Short answer –

Get the best grades you possibly can. Improve as much as you possibly can. From there, what happens, happens.

Are you going to apply early to any schools? If you are trying to jump in rank by end of first semester, I don’t think colleges will see those grades in early applications.

Get the best grades you can. This will be helpful regardless of whether your rank improves. But yes, top 25% will be much better than top 40% from an admissions perspective.

Good luck, and work hard!
