I was wondering which is more important rank or GPA? My school is tough so my GPA is only 4.02 weighted, but I'm ranked 7th while my val is only at 4.10 right now. So does my rank give me a boost or no?

well it depends on how many kids are in your school, but if a college sees a really high rank with a less-than-stellar GPA, they will know your school is tough

I have about 300 kids in my graduating class!

UC and CSU do not care about your current class rank at all. (UC ELC compares your GPA to the threshold GPA that the top 9% of your school in previous years set.)

Texas public universities use class rank to the exclusion of GPA.

^ To elaborate on UCB’s points, it depends on the school. Go to the Common Data Set for the schools in which you are interested and look at section C7. It shows the weight given for each element in admission. That being said, UW GPA in combination with the difficulty of your classes is generally the best indicator of how colleges will view your app.
