rank penn state campuses (academics)

Im sending in my application tommorow and wont get a chance to visit the campus i hopefulyl get accepted into until i get accepted. So what i need to know is what are the top 3 campuses not including the honors college. Obviously university park is next but what are the other two? I was looking at altoona and hazleton but i just dont know. Also i have a 4.0 weighted, iv taken a minimum of 4 honors and or AP classes since my freshman year. I have a 24 ACT and like a 1600 SAT so i bombed those but im still trying for a better ACT score. I want to go to college with my boyfriend but his grades are a little bit lower, about a 3.6 weighted GPA and less honors and AP and he got a 21 ACT. if i were to apply to university park and he did to but only i got accepted, could i request to go to his campus as soon as i find out about our exceptance? thanx in advance!

The honors college is not a separate “campus”. It is within University Park.

thqats something i didnt know, thankyou! well then lets rank them excluding university park

I am sure you care about your bf, but I don’t think basing your college/campus choice on him is not a great idea. I have just seen people go that way and it never goes well. If you are lucky enough and get into University Park, then you should go. It’s the best campus by leaps and bounds, hence why it is the main campus. He can apply to altoona and, if he gets in, can be only 35 minutes away.

Ranking PSU’s campuses is a silly exercise. Unlike the public university systems in other states, every PSU student, no matter where they started, can graduate from UP if they want to. Not everyone does. I know some High School 4.0, GPA, high SAT students who were ACCEPTED to UP but took one look, or for family/personal reasons, and decided they’d rather start and finish at a different campus. The whole concept of Pennsylvania’s flagship university system is uniquely almost egalitarian.

We live only 6 miles from the Lehigh Valley campus, a non-residential campus. My D wanted no part of a large school/large campus, and wanted to continue living at home, working her part time job, keeping a car, and hanging out with her friends. She is suppose to move to University Park next year (she’s an honor student) but has informed me she doesn’t want to go. So she’s going to modify her major to one that will allow her to graduate from the Lehigh Valley campus. She loves the small campus at LV. Not everyone thinks UP is the ultimate, loves football, or wants to get drunk at frat/sorority parties.

It sounds good, but everyone knows that branch campus classes are a lot easier. There’s a reason that it says ON YOUR TRANSCRIPT which campus you took classes at and graduated from. These "some’ that passed on University Park are just not that numerous. There’s a reason that Penn State University Park is ranked in the top 50 and is a top 15 public university, while the branch campuses are either third tier or not even ranked. It’s not the same difficulty of education and that’s the reason people always ask whether or not you went to main campus.
