What if one's school does not rank? will Harvard speak with my counsellor or something along those lines?

And if ranking IS available, what is the acceptable range for a non URM, non legaxy, non athlete applicant?

top 5%...maybe top 10% if you're in a small elite school or if you have great ECs

My school does not rank and I was accepted for '10.

Normally what our counselors do whenever rank is asked for on applications is write something along the lines of "Our students would generally be in the top 2-3% where they at a normal ranking high school." (Yes, we're overachievers) and that normally suffices.

Basically, it won't hurt you if your school does not rank. Harvard will work with whatever information is given to them. They will not penalize you.

And I suppose if they did want more information... that's why they ask for your school/counselor phone numbers.

Thanks :)
That's a big load off my shoulders.

haha, the top 10% in my class consists two crazy asians. I am glad my school doesn't rank.
