I'm curious as to differences between opinions among students in North American compared to students in Europe.

So in terms of overall reputation, how would you rank the global investment banks?

So in terms of overall reputation, how would you rank the global investment banks?

Including USA:

Goldman Sachs
HSBC
Morgan Stanley/Merill Lynch/JP Morgan/ Citibank
Barclays

I'm missing some but it would be something like that.

lssd2012, the ranking you posted is pretty inaccurate.

In the U.S., investment banks (traditional capital raising and M&A services)rank more like this:

Goldman/MS

The other Bulge brackets (UBS, JP, credit suisse, lehman, merrill, citi, the old bear stearns, deutsche bank, etc)

Foreign banks: Barclays capital (disadvantaged by absence of M&A), HSBC, RBS (Royal bank of scotland) capital, BNP, SocGen

In Europe:

UBS, Credit suisse, barclays capital, BNP, and other european banks (throw in rothschild for pure advisory services)

US bulge bracket banks except lehman

Lehman
