In terms of name-recognition, UCB is probably the 'better' school.</p>

<p>both have been in (slight) decline since the defense-industry contraction 15 years ago. Or that may just be my ultra-elitist UCB B.S./Stanford PhD EE friend being elitist :)</p>

<p>Then again, another guy I knew said "There are a lot of stupid people at UCLA." Again, another ultra-elitist prick, heh (his undergrad UCLA GRE+GPA was high enough for auto-admission into UCLA's graduate EE program. Once in the grad/EE program, he said the competition was a whole 'nother level...cured his arrogance.)</p>
