In terms of selectivity, referring to class profiles, average SAT scores and acceptance rates, Pomona and Brown are essentially comprable, with Brown perhaps a hair more selective than Pomona. This difference in selectivity is akin to the difference between Amherst and Swarthmore or MIT and Caltech--very marginal. The third institution, Northwestern University, is without question, less selective. It's definitley an academic powerhouse, but not at the same level as the aformentioned institutions. Students at Brown and Pomona, in general, are more offbeat than the average NU student, and more intellectual. This probobly results from the lengthy and personal review processes completed at each school. Pomona is one of the most elite LACs and Brown is a strong Ivy League University. Northwestern isn't quite at the same level.
