1.) Go where you can get in.
2.) Go where you can afford.
3.) Go where you like.

hypothetically assuming those 3 conditions are met

If you're actually facing this dilemma after you've applied, we can talk about it then.

PS: Duke premeds > Duke basketball.

You should also consider JHU. I was also looking for a strong premed school. I decided to go to JHU for their huge opportunities available.

Do you have any basis for this ranking?

lol I love threads like this. Let's split hairs between Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

^Ok, I will
Princeton has a little grade deflation compared to massive grade inflation by Harvard and Yale (you're handed As upon entry).
All are full of snobbish rich people
None are as cool as Penn, Cornell, Nebraska, or Duke
Princeton has no med school and is in Jersey (two minuses)
Yale gets you compared to Bush
When you tell people "I went to Harvard" it ruins the conversation.

Anyone want to add anything?

^ Hilarious :]

applause

PS: Bush was an Harvard guy, too (HBS).

bluedevilmike, i am facing a variation of the opening problem. Any advice?: Harvard vs Yale premed

Unfortunately I don't know anything about Yale. I'm not a big fan of Harvard's advising process (too decentralized).

With that said, kids do just fine from both schools -- not surprising, they're very smart kids. You're gonna do great. My class has three Yalies (ChemE, History, Biology) and a Harvard grad (Religion) -- all top notch kids. Very down to earth, nice, humble kids. (Ironically, my class's difficult ones are the valedictorians from no-name schools. And that one kid from Penn.)

Generally Yale is the school that's reputed to care about their undergrads a little more, but most kids also prefer Harvard's setting to Yale's. The political atmosphere is pretty similar*, and the kids are comparably bright and hardworking.

Harvard has the better hospital (MGH) but its undergrads probably have less access to it. (Even its medical students have to draw a lottery to get access to it during their third year!) Yale's medical school is somewhat less prestigious but is certainly no slouch.

*I was shocked at the dismissal of Lawrence Summers -- as were Harvard undergrads, who opposed it 55%-19% -- but, then, I was pretty shocked when Yale admitted a student who was a member of the Taliban, too, so what're you gonna do. (Besides come to Duke, I mean!)
