Brown
Dartmouth
Georgetown
Williams
Swarthmore
Duke
Penn
Cornell
UChi
Pomona
Wesleyan
UVa

I'd have to say that without further research, my list looks like this:

Wesleyan science profs conduct research all year round (not just during their summers off); for that reason, I would put it ahead of WASP:

Let me pose this in a slightly different way, to see if the order is the same. If you got into all of these great schools and had to choose among them, what would your PERSONAL order of preference be:

Amherst, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth Duke, Georgetown,Penn, Pomona Swarthmore UChicago, Uva, WEsleyan, Williams

Mine wou ld be this:

Brown
Amherst
Georgetown
Dartmouth
Williams
Penn
Swarthmore
Duke
UVa
Pomona
Cornell
UChi
Wesleyan

Combination of rep plus atmosphere -- (you may detect a slight trend from laid-back to academically cut-throat):

Brown
Wesleyan
Dartmouth
Williams
Pomona
UVa
Penn
Amherst
Georgetown
Swarthmore
Duke
UChi
Cornell

based on strength in sciences and/or engineering, overall reputation, and campus "feel"/environment

1 Cornell

Dartmouth
Swarthmore
Williams
Amherst
Penn
Brown
Duke
U Chicago
UVA
Georgetown
Pomona
Wesleyan

I don't know much about Pomona's campus but I know it is far away from where I live.

Rep/Prestige:
Brown
Cornell
Duke
Penn
Georgetown
Dartmouth
Williams
UChicago
Amherst
UVA
Swarthmore
Wesleyan
Pomona

Personal Pref:

Based completely on common southern name recognition:
Duke
Georgetown
Brown
Dartmouth
Penn
Cornell
UVA
UChicago
Wesleyan
Amherst
Pomona
Williams
Swarthmore

I would rank them #1 through #13.

I would put the one I liked the most at #1.

I would then put the one that I liked less than the other 12 at #13 with the rest somewhere in between
isnt that how most people do it? Or, do you not know which one you like the most and are hoping to form an opinion based on which schools other people like the most? Interesting strategy.

Hope this helps, you genius you;)

Brown / Dartmouth / Penn
Amherst / Williams / UChicago
Cornell
Duke / Swarthmore
Georgetown
UVA
Wesleyan

reputation to whom? the public or to grad schools? If it's the latter, Chicago is top 3 at worst.
