This is basically just the overal rankings in my opinion. I can't stand Seattle or Minneapolis so this might be biased but this is my opinion.
I really like Clemson aswell, although i just think these other schools outclass it overall.

What is so great about Indiana and what would make you think it would be in front of Texas, PSU and Florida !

I smell an Indiana alum.... lol no just an honest question

Actually, Matt is a Wolverine...I hope. Indiana is a great university, definitely on par with Florida and PSU. However, I don't think it is quite as good as UT-Austin.

Washington, Michigan State and Minnesota all at the top. But IlseBoy is right; the bureaucracy at U of W is hopeless.

I dunno... to me, this thread is fairly pointless unless we are going to look at certain areas of specialization, as it just amounts to rehashing US News rankings. If we were to look at engineering, Illinois will be at/near the top, but it is much weaker in liberal arts (Same with Clemson). On the other hand, engineering is basically nonexistent at IU, but it has a strong business school and liberal arts. Just one man's take, though.

Maryland students are of the highest quality compared to students of other schools on this list. That is basically the main criteria i use to rank schools.

University of Illinois
University of Texas
Indiana University
University of Washington / University of Maryland
Penn State
Michigan State University
University of Minnesota
Clemson University
University of Florida

a very audacious post there DTan.....you're on thin ice now lol

poor Clemson ....

Clemson's a good school, esp compared to many of its neighbors (Miss State? UTenn? Bama?), but compared to the national schools on the list, it's just not quite on that level.

true. It's a very good school, just not as good as the others... if you look at the big picture I mean it has some stand-out depts. .... i don't know what they are but I bet they are there.
