Rank what you think is most important in a application

So you meant to say inerviews are more important than essays.

I would say they check out the grades to see if they would "survive" & then it would be whether or not you are a fit... so here I go.

Grades- how hard you work everyday

SSATs- compare your grades with everyone else's scores

Teacher recs- see how you interact in class/ what your grades mean

Interview- see if the school likes you/ personality/ character

Essays- what you're really like, how you write, anything else you didn't tell them during the interview

ECs- see what you can offer them

ECs I put last because, well, they have to like you and see if you can survive before they think about what you could offer them.

there are several other threads about this as well.
But, I think the order differs with every situation and school.

Well I think

Essays- understand what kind of person you are, how you write...

Teacher Recs- understand even more of what you're like (as a student)

EC's- see if you have anything special to offer the school

Interview- see what kind of personality/character you're like

SSAT/Grades- compare how hard you work as a student, how you compare with the rest of your age...

I put SSAT's and grades down really low because it's really just a number... aren't they more interested in how well you write and what kind of learner you are more? (but then again, it's still rather important because schools like A/E wouldn't accept someone with straight D's and a 55 percentile)

Haha, I agree with most of what glitters said :) Except for the grades part, I'd put that up there in between ECs and Teacher Recs, I guess.

Schools are all looking for the next students who will creatively execute their talent into producing things like the facebook.com song XDXD Hotchkiss has awesome students LOL
