How should i rank the colleges? I've read that Warren is the best for engineers, is that still the case, but I've also heard that Muir is the best overall? Any advice would help. Thanks homies

Muir is superior. Literally everybody I know wants to be in Muir. Biggest dorms, perfect location (5 minute walk to center of campus, 15 min walk to beach), best dining hall, easiest GE requirements, and overall just best vibe. I can look out my window every day and see the ocean. I’m a first year in Muir right now and after visiting the other colleges, I can say that I’m extremely happy I got into Muir. Put it as your first choice, or you won’t get in. And unfortunately, since Muir is the most popular, it’s pretty hard to get in regardless–priority goes to those with the highest test scores, GPA, etc. (hence why Muir has statistically the smartest students with the fastest graduation times).

In my opinion, try to stay away from Revelle and ERC. They both have pretty intensive GE requirements, which means it’s actually harder to graduate in 4 years depending on your major. Everybody in those colleges complain about the GEs.

You’re right in your statement that Warren is best for engineers. I really don’t know much more about Warren except that all the architecture in that area is very pretty and modern.

Marshall is kind of a weird one. It focuses on things like social justice… don’t know too much about it either. It seems like I never meet anybody from Marshall. Also their dorms are kinda weird.

Lastly, Sixth is just… eh. The freshman dorms are fairly ugly, although I’ve heard that they have pretty easy GE requirements too. The worst part about it is that it’s so far away from everything on campus–I literally have only been there once in my two months here so far.

Hope this helps.

pretty much.
Muir has least GE requirements (apparently they have the tougher writing GEs to compensate for the fact that there are fewer quarters though.) Has best access to the top dining hall atm.

Warren is best for engineers - the proximity to the labs/engineering building makes life far easier. Food options are meh. You get a nice view to …the freeway (and a landscape of yellow hills).

Marshall is the in between. Not great. Not bad. Very, very liberal. Food options are pretty good because of proximity to Goody’s. Best view of the ocean.

Sixth is also an in between. Tech & art centered (suitable for graphic designers, video game designers, etc.) Food is great, but you don’t have a place to eat at. Pretty much takeout or freeze outside at night. Dorms suck…

ERC is for lit/writing. Best dorms. Best market. GEs will suck the life out of you if you are interested in an engineering major. Takes forever to walk to Warren from ERC.

Revelle is for science. Tough GEs - although not completely offtrack from engineering classes. Pretty far from where engineering classes will be.

Dorms are pretty much the same tbh … structures are a little different and all but won’t make any real impact. ERC would top the dorms and Sixth would be at the bottom. The rest are sort of scattered in the middle.

Don’t land yourself in a triple. ): It sucks.

What are you talking about here? How is Marshall very liberal?

@chikaslimshady

I would give this link below a look. It gives you an idea of what GEs each college has which I think is probably the most important factor in picking the colleges. Most everybody else will just give you the super generalized and basically untrue stereotypes of each college which really won’t do you any good when you actually get here and wonder what the hell they were talking about.
