I'm looking for a list of Undergraduate institutions ranked by the percentage of students that go on to receive a graduate degree or a doctoral degree. I've heard colleges claim to be on this list, but I have never actually seen it. If anyone can provide a link, it would be much appreciated.

The CC poster “interesteddad” has done these calculations for many different fields. Use the search feature for his name and PhD and you will find it. There is a study “Weighted Baccalaureate Origins” from Franklin and Marshall that does the same thing, but it is not as up to date, and does not break down the PhD’s by field.

Note that the results largely reflect the interests and abilities of students who enroll at a college, rather than the “quality” of the college itself. Many students who could get PhD’s don’t want to, choosing to enter the job market or professional school instead. The lists turn up a few well regarded colleges that get little attention on CC, particularly smaller LAC’s for example Grinnell or Reed, but otherwise if you look at what are generally considered top academic institutions, they tend to produce lots of PhD’s.

I don’t know of any source for professional or masters degrees.
