My D was accepted into the LAS program. I know UIUC is ranked 41 according to US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, however, I think this is mostly due to it's Business & Engineering programs. Does anyone know how the LAS dept. ranks among the other top tier universities?

i was wondering about this too. i got deferred from the business college, and i'm thinking that i may be able to go into the LAS program. i was thinking about majoring in political science if that were to happen and i was wondering how the LAS program and political science program ranks compared to other universities.

I don't believe I've ever seen a ranking for the entire program... that would be really hard to do...there's gotta be like 50 very different programs in that college.

the natural science programs within LAS are very strong, such as math, chemistry, physics, biology. Psychology is also very strong.

I believe that most of the las majors are atleast in top 30s. Some are even ranked in top 10s, such as psychology, chemistry, physics, and etc. I don't know why many people think that UIUC has weak LAS programs.

Okay, old thread. How are the departments that aren't the sciences like sociology, history, nursing (not in LAS, but still), education etc. that aren't mentioned since their overshadowed by business and engineering?

If engineering (bio-, chemical, mechanical, electrical, etc) is strong, I can not imagine that their Math, Chem, Bio, Phy and so on are weak. Those are the fundimentals to engineering.

There are some data from USNEWS about the greduate schools ranking. For the undergraduate, they should be similar. For example, the education major,
