For IR?

GTown
Tufts
Columbia
American
BU :)

Right?

I know nothing about BC/NYU/HC's IR programs

For Political Science, Columbia followed by Georgetown and Tufts. If International Relations, Georgetown and Tufts.

If you want city, strong poly sci/IR, and you're okay with Columbia's core and the academic rigor of Columbia/Tufts/Georgetown, I would suggest checking out UChicago and Northwestern. Both are extremely accessible to downtown Chicago and both are all-around strong schools.

gw, yale, ucla

check out gw and american for international relations, they may not be highly ranked overall but both have very strong ir programs.

I would visit each of your desired school's website and see if they offer the courses you like. However, if internships is a big factor, then the schools in New York City (U.N. and many international non-governmental organizations are based there) and Washington, D.C. (the U.S. capital and home of the State Department and many of the world's ambassadors and organizations) could give you the advantage you seek.

For IR undergrad, Georgetown and Tufts, none of the others you listed are even in the ballpark in the field, with Johns Hopkins alongside, and then GW and American.

If the West Coast is in your interest, you should also consider USC. IR is a very popular major, and USC as a whole has an international focus with many international students. Here is the website of USC's School of International Relations: http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/ir/
