Ranking these 4 Schools in Neuroscience

Can anyone help me rank these 4 schools when it comes to Neuroscience?

Brown
Johns Hopkins
UCSD
UCLA

The way I have it right now is pretty much how I think it is. But I'm pretty sure I could be wrong. Any advice?

John Hopkins
UCSD
UCLA
Brown

John Hopkins i believe i ranked second in the country and UCSD is ranked third. So they are very highly ranked.

I once considered majoring in neuroscience here at Hopkins, and I can tell you it's perhaps the best department I've ever seen. The faculty is amazing--many of whom split their time between the medical school and Homewood--and the research opportunities are second to none--from alzheimers and neuronal cell death to neurological endocrinology and bird songs. Seriously.

Kutibah, Coolguy's anecdote is the kind of information that you need to make a sound choice, not rankings. Rankings are typically useless.

coolguy, do you know if Johns Hopkins is as overly cutthroat as many people say it is? I've been getting many opposing views on this and it's one of the major things that has probably discouraged me from Hopkins.

kutibah, as a current student, I can tell you that the cut-throatedness is a myth. If you head over to the JHU board, and search for "cut throat" or "throat" etc, you'll find a myriad of threads on the topic. It's competitive, but it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be, and getting good grades is not impossible, but probably harder than some other schools.

Also, the program--it's not really a department rather than an amalgam of parts of a few departments (bio, behavioral bio, psych, cognitive science, and the med school's neuroscience department)--offers a BA/MS program, sends kids to top graduate programs and medical schools. Moreover, there's some really cool stuff to be learned.
