Ranking "top" CSUs and "middle" or "bottom" UCs

I posted this question on a different thread and was wondering how would you rank them.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cal-poly-pomona/872157-ranking-top-csus-middle-bottom-ucs.html

Here’s my opinion. Rankings are pretty pointless. Everybody just finds a website and copies and pastes their rankings. Then somebody posts the rankings from another website and says the first person is wrong because their website is better because they found it first. I challenge to find somebody who has actually attended classes at more than one of those universities. Now, I know somebody is going to say “if you don’t care, you didn’t have to post anything”, but like I said, just posting an opinion. :)

It depends on the major, but here is how I would rank them overall.

 1. UC Berkeley
 2. UCLA
 3. UCSD
 4. Cal Poly SLO (2 or 3 for engineering)
 5. UCSB
 6. UC Davis
 7. UC Irvine
 8. UCSC
 9. Cal Poly Pomona
 10. San Diego State
 11. UC Riverside
 12. Long Beach State
 13. Cal State Fullerton
 14. UC Merced

Based on a variety of rankings, this is how I would rank them: (Note that #4-7 are close in the rankings)

Wondering why Fresno State isn’t in the rankings. Anybody have any info on their Animal Science program? Also, the schools listed are strong or weak depending on the program right? I mean, there are only 4 strong animal science programs in the state so, to rank them against schools for other majors wouldn’t make sense. Thanks for your input.

Cal Poly SLO

The issue here is that UC schools are more focused on theory than CSU…it is to your advantage to go to Cal Poly SLO if you want to work straight after college, especially in engineering, but if you plan on going to grad school right after, UC Davis would prepare you much better

But overall, i would have to say any of the middle UCs are better than Cal Poly SLO, they have more endowment and better research opportunities and better faculty, and Davis is probably the best middle UC

Which school is better for animal science:
Cal Poly Pomona or Fresno State?

Ranking by admitted freshman test scores according to College Board (middle 50%).
