And even if you go to the QS world university rankings and Times higher education rankings, and rank universities based on employ-ability in Engineering, Georgia Tech will place below much less qualified universities. How is this possible? Given that Georgia Tech ranks higher in other areas. Thank you.

Your link is from 2012 and is looks like it is for all majors. But more importantly since you are an international student I assume you are probably planning on going back to your country for employment after graduation. I would check with recruiters in your county to see what they think about a degree from GT. From everything I’ve read GT is well respected internationally. Have you been accepted at a different college and you are trying to figure out where to go?

I am actually hoping to find a job in the US after I graduate. Yeah, I have been accepted to UT Austin, UIUC, University of Toronto, and Mcgill. The ranking I linked are for all major, but the other two I mentioned are for Engineering. Though, from what I have heard (and I asked a of people) and researched, Georgia Tech is the best education wise and job placement wise. But I do not understand those rankings…

Btw “MichiganGeorgia”, you have been giving a lot of useful advice on these forms that helped me decide on housing and stuff. I am going to commit tonight, but was just hoping to get this one aspect off my chest before I do so.

My guess:
Georgia Tech is primarily only strong in technology (business decent locally). Thus when you have rankings with worldwide data for all majors, GT doesn’t score well because GT is more renowned domestically in US, and only in technology/engineering. Harder for GT to penetrate the world for reputation.

Other schools with strong academics in various fields are more reputable in minds of people in different career fields and would rank higher than GT for career prospects. For GT, you should focus on technology/engineering employment rankings.

Definitely choose between GT, Illinois, and UT Austin.

Congrats @jimy1666 ! Good you did not go by the NY Times survey… definitely an anomaly. GTECH has great reputation internationally. A couple of new ratings … the latest Times Reputation rankings…
