Ranks Needed!!

Hey guys:

Would you mind ranking these schools in order of prestige for me:

Barnard
Brown University
Boston College
Colgate
Columbia
Dartmouth
Georgetown
NYU
Tufts

Also could you do a separate ranking for these schools undergrad IR/Economics Dept?

Thanks so much!

Why? Are you planning to pick a college based on prestige? I guess you could look at USNews rankings if you care about that kind of thing. I would say they are all about the same.

I definitely don’t recommend letting prestige be your determining factor, as that would be dumb and the universities are pretty different if you’d do some research. Barnard is an all-girl school, btw.

But if I was to list in MY opinion: Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Brown, Barnard, NYU, Tufts, Boston, Colgate

In terms of prestige in their Econ programs, the standouts are GT, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Brown; the other ones kinda clump together into what I think is second place.

Again. I don’t think the first list matters at all. The major-specific one matters, but not as much as you may think

You got to pick one based on something, like I said previously some kids pick based on the weather… 8-|

In my opinion

Columbia
Brown~Dartmouth

Georgetown
Tufts~BC
Barnard
NYU ~Colgate

These schools have significant difference. do not base any choice just on perceived prestige.

These are all quality schools, so you should choose based on fit and finances.

But to answer your question on prestige:

  1. Columbia
  2. Brown, Dartmouth
  3. Georgetown
  4. BC, Barnard, Colgate, NYU, Tufts

I don’t know about economics. For IR, Georgetown, Tufts, and Columbia are all top notch. The others may be good as well, but I’m not as familiar with them.

These analyses will give you some idea of the strength of these schools’ economics programs:

IMO:

  1. Columbia
  2. Brown University
  3. Dartmouth
  4. Georgetown
  5. Tufts
  6. Boston College, Colgate, NYU
  7. Barnard

You want prestige?

For men: Paul Stewart
For women: Bergdorf Goodman

Wear the labels on the outside. And you will go places!

For prestige–

Michelangelo and Raphael

but if you can’t afford the Italian Renaissance then the next level might be

Versailles and Buckminster Palace

And if that’s too rich then maybe

Trump Casino in Atlantic City

tbh I wouldn’t worry about prestige too much. It’s always about what you do at the college that matters anyway. Also fit should be the biggest factor when choosing a college. If I had to rank tho:

Columbia, Dartmouth/Brown, Gtown, NYU, Tufts, Barnard, BC, Colgate

NYU has a really good finance program so I’d recommend looking into that if you’re interested.

Kk thanks everyone! I would never make a decision for college only based on prestige I was just curious to know
