Rant On Chances

Seriously. I watch all these threads on chances and that is absolutely fine. In fact, I would ask for people to chance. But what is with all these "CHANCE ME, I WILL CHANCE YOU BACK" threads. If you are saying you will chance people back, what is point of asking other people to chance you in the first place. You can chance yourself. You guys agree?

It is ■■■■■■■■, but all chance threads are pretty pointless. Only thing that matters is the college who decides not the opinions of strangers based on miniscule information

But it is reassuring sometimes

Well, it does help students have a sense of assurance. Though it’s sad when someone tells them they have a great chance, and later get rejected.

I agree. “CHANCE ME, I WILL CHANCE YOU BACK” roughly translates to “I’M NOT QUALIFIED TO KNOW MY OWN CHANCES BUT I’LL WEIGH IN ON YOURS”

I’ve always found it funny too. I definitely agree with sherpa though.

Sherpa, lol, I completely agree.

Let’s face it: if it weren’t for “chances” threads this site would probably cease to exist.

Everybody on here is either an aspiring student or their parent(s); or an “expert” in the admission’s game(self-styled).

So it’s kind of like the weather; everybody talks about it but nobody does anything about it.

The best I could do for a “Chance Me” is to tell them my d’s scores and the colleges she got into with them, but truly, I’m convinced she got in for qualities that aren’t reflected in the scores. Do yeah, “chance me” is pretty futile. I think the kids are just trying to relieve anxiety though. Nothing wrong with that.

I agree with that. But most of the people creating chance threads here, pretty much act like they are desperate and have no clue if they will get accepted or not, yet tell other people that they will chance them back. I would surely create chance threads next year, but I would tell people my opinion about my chances and ask them to verify it.
