Example: For CHM1025, the book I need is called Chemistry: A Molecular Approach with the author listed as Mitchell, published by Pearson Custom Publishing, but the ISBN is unique to UF. When I google the name it comes up with the same book name, but by Nivaldo. I'm pretty sure they're the exact same book but UF is trying to sell it off as something completely different and making you think that you need the specific book from their bookstore. So I should get the Nivaldo one, yes?

It's a similar situation with my other classes. I hate these eBook cards and codes that are listed as Required and there's no professor listed to contact. When I search the book ISBNs, nothing comes up, and the book titles themselves are vague so it's nearly impossible to search (I tried and gave me completely different books).

They drag you around in circles until you're confused and just think you have to buy from the bookstore, which is what I'm thinking right now.

Yeah I’ve been having the same problem too. The ISBN I look up is not even listed on other textbook sites, it is so annoying to have to look up the title/edition…and then be confused about whether it matches the one the course wants. Oh well.

If we wait until the first week, the UF Bookstore won’t run out of books for a general course like chem2045 right?

Odds of them running out are extremely low. Yall also need to remember that your professors are people to, if you can’t find the book around town, you can probably talk to your professor about the situation, and they’ll be cool about it. So long as it isn’t like a month into the course. The only time I had a class with a hard to find book, the professor delayed homework from the book for like the first month, until everyone in class said they had it.
