First off... Anybody get there AP Scores yet? I live in GA and last time this year everybody already got them.

Like I have said, the College Board is like every other corporation. Its all about the $. In June I paid $45 for the SAT. I saw my scores in 2 weeks...online.

I paid over $250 for AP tests. I has been nearly 3 months and no scores. How hard is it to simply post it online.

Shouldn't the $84 that everyone of us pay cover evrything? From sending scores to viewing scores online.

I can't believe they charge $8 (2 gallons of gas) for a phone call to say "you got a 5 on U.S history and 3 in Statistics."

Where is our $84 going to. (i hear the money is for paying an all expense paid trip to like Jackson, FL for all the AP graders around the country for like half a month. Everyting is paid, from Living to food to entertainment)

You guys have any more Rants ( and if possible raves)?

I think the $8 fee for the phone call for the AP scores is ridiculous. I'm mad that I paid it but I couldn't stand to wait for my scores.
It's going to cost me so much money to send my SAT/ACT/AP scores to colleges, I'm considering getting a part time job.

i personally don't like the cost (obviously), but I generally like the collegeboard.

WHY?

Because, otherwise, the insane gradegrubbers in my AP classes would win. Now, it shows I have a 5 and 800 on USH, not a 1 and a 420 (which is what happened to someone who scored 8 pts higher than me in the class...)

Spent a long weekend earlier this month at the Marriott Harbor Beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL prior to dropping D off for her mission trip to Peru. This is a very nice resort on the beach with a full service spa! Rooms well over $250 per night, $21 per day to self park, etc. Lo and behold but when we checked in the place was swarming with College Board people complete with nametags and black bags advertising their name and Accuplacer. We arrived on a Friday, they left on Sunday but don't know how long the meeting had been there. I guess we all know why those AP exams were so expensive! And I didn't see any of them grading tests at the side of the pool either! Granted, they probably had a discounted room rate for their meeting, but the location and and cost is pretty extravagant.
My daughter was dying to know why they were there and asked me to try to find out. I spoke with another mom who was a guest there and her daughter had also been curious. According to her they were working on this Accuplacer test for college placement exams.
I'm sorry if this makes anyone angry or upset but I just had to divulge this

I'm just going to repost what I already stated in an earlier thread because it simply can't be stated enough:

**** CollegeBoard. I called their AP office and asked them if ALL of my scores were available. The ******bag on the other end of the line said "Yes." I asked him "ARE YOU SURE?" and he confirmed. I used the Grades by Phone service, and lo and behold, one of my scores was indeed unavailable. I call back and ask for a manager and explain the situation, to which he simply states that CB has a no-refund policy.

I live in the whitest suburban neighborhood in GA. Most people have salaries of 100k + and 5000 sqf houses.

How come we can't subsidize AP tests?
[/quote]

errr probably because you can afford them. Generally school activities and tests are subsidized so that people who would otherwise be unable or not inclined to participate due to cost can afford them.

Areas with low performance or a large income-achievement gap also often subsidize AP tests to attempt to motivate lower-income students to take and study for the tests. Some areas with generally low test scores also receive huge funding bonuses from their states/districts for high AP scores, so they offer financial incentive to take the test.

Your area sounds like none of these apply, it sounds like a bunch of rich white kids who don't need monetary incentive to take or afford AP tests. Thus why you don't subsidize them.

What I really hate about college board is:
ONCE YOU TAKE A TEST, IT'S ON YOUR RECORD FOREVEEEER!!!
I mean, even if you don't want colleges to see that ONE test, it's still on your record

I really think that Collegeboard should release a AP detailed exam report so that the individual that takes the exam can understand why he or she got the score they got.
