Rapid response on nomination

OK - I realize this question is probably subjective but I'm looking for an opinion...my son is currently a freshman in NROTC at a university. He applied for USNA last year but did not receive an appointment, although he had a nomination from our MOC. He reapplied for Annapolis this year and just had his nomination interview last weekend ~ he thought it went well and apparently he was right because he just received a nomination letter to USNA and USMA. My question relates to the speed with which he received the news this year...as opposed to last year when it was late January before he got his nomination letter. Does this have any bearing on his application status or does it just mean the MOC was quicker to make his decision this year?

(He has not received LOA from either school but both of his apps are still awaiting his teacher recs and transcripts from his first semester at college.)

As a college student, his app won’t be reviewed until first semester grades are in

I think the MOC just got their job done more efficiently this year. It probably won’t impact when his app is evaluated. He must get it complete to be evaluated…
