Rasmussen: McCain Post- Convention Bounce Over: Obama pulls ahead (with leaners)

We've got a lot of days ahead until election day, but this thing is settling back into some pre-convention normalcy:

Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.

You’re using 1 poll to denounce a whole trend noted by a collection of several polls.

The bigger point is that “pink” states like North Dakota, North Carolina, Alaska, etc. are turning red. This trend will likely soon eclipse into the closest states of Colorado, Virginia, with VA already leaning McCain a bit [The Campaign Spot on National Review Online](http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZWFkZWZmMzg1MGI4NmY5ZmNkM2RlY2U5ZTdlY2ZjY2E=)
[Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.](http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/election_2008_electoral_college_update)

Tradtional Gore/Kerry states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Minnesota are polling close for McCain…and New Mexico which has been reliably expected to vote for Obama…polling close for McCain too (remember Bush won here in 2004).

Obama’s convention bounce never shook up the electoral college as much as McCain’s. Obama won’t win old hopes like Georgia, and it’s looking tough for him in Ohio.

Why does anyone care about polls in mid-September. Lets wait until November or at least October before we even care about what the polls say. Also @pugfug lets not lie on the internet. I don’t know what news you are watching (other than fox) that report that McCain is leading and running away with Penn, Michigan, Wisconsin or New Hampshire. Just because you want McCain to win doesn’t mean that he will.

^

Well said. Walter Mondale got a 15-point bounce after he chose Geraldine Ferraro. How did that turn out again? Sixty days in political time might as well be sixty years. Nobody can predict what will happen from now until then.

Yeah, but I don’t think McCain’s convention bounce is over yet. I think we’ll see another 1 or 2 points for Obama, and then I’ll declare it over.

It’s a Palin bubble. Have you seen video of McCain campaigning without Sarah Palin in the last few days? There were as many Obama supporters as McCain supporters at a Pennsylvania rally, and McCain even joked, “It’s a battleground state.” If Palin’s celebrity status doesn’t last until November, the McCain campaign has no chance.

Those Obama kids are outrageously wacko. Invading Mccain rallies, invading the Republican convention. Geez, grow up.

Yeah, Mccain saying Pennsylvania is a battleground state is a good thing!!! For McCain of course. This state voted for Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, but they also voted for Reagan, Bush.

Kerry won here by 144K. Gore won by 201K. The margin is getting closer for the Republicans to have a chance here. Obama claiming small towners are bitter and cling to religion won’t help. His lost to Hillary won’t help. This is definitely a battleground state and it shouldn’t be :)

Palin=celebrity, Obama=??? haha

Who the hell waits until November to care about what the polls say?

McCain/Palin supporters are the ones who need to grow up.

[Daily Kos: State of the Nation](http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/10/152425/515/111/593835)

“I found the disconnect very apparent. VPILF craze was rampant with the men in their 20’s-50’s. The open lust for her, calling her a hot piece, and commenting on how good “her mooserack” was (Don’t ask, I didn’t get it either) was juxtaposed with their claims of sexism in the Democratic party. “Obama said, put lipstick on a Pig, and it is still a Pig, How DARE he say that! How sexist!””

Too early to call. Wait for the first debate.

That ‘Daily Kos: State of the Nation’ piece was something.

Daily Kos???

HAHAHA

Worst site ever. They’re a bunch of crazies.

If you read the article, you’d realize that the Republican side is much, much crazier.

Yep crazy Republicans, very crazy Republicans. I’d imagine they’d have to be nuts if they’d waste their times validating the Kos by responding.

Gore won by 5.57%.
Kerry won here by 7.18%.
Even with Republican leadership spread around here, no one expected Washington to be truly in play this year… McCain’s chances of a landslide keeps getting bigger while Obama is defending PA, MI, WI, OH, and trying to keep CO and VA from staying red as they both have for years… :)

From biased number cruncher: I think even Palinophobes like me have to concede that right now McCain’s looking pretty savvy – but some of that sheen is taken off by her somewhat lackluster effect on the Electoral College.

HAHA. This guy’s rich. To put MI, WI, PA, WA, etc. in play for McCain, taking Alaska, GA, ND, NC from Obama.. anyway, at least he recognizes a good thing when he sees it.

The bounce isn’t over. :D

[Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.](http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll)

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows John McCain up by three points, his largest lead since Obama wrapped up the Democratic Presidential Nomination.

McCain now attracts 48% of the vote while Obama earns 45%. When “leaners” are included, it’s McCain 49%, Obama 46%.

McCain has a 52% chance of winning the election at the height of his bounce? If you want to interpret that as a good thing, go right ahead.

I can’t believe some people think Michigan is a battleground state. We have the worst economy in the nation and there is no way that we’re going to vote Republican especially when a good chunk of the state blames Bush for allowing their jobs to be outsourced.

Democrats have ruled MI. They have failed.

Michigan is about as much of a battleground state as Indiana is. Obama just needs to win NM (or, in its place, Nevada) and CO, and he’s got the election wrapped up.

Don’t forget racist ideology. You see, economic hard times are difficult, but they come in cycles. Even the Great Depression went away. However, giving away that last sanctuary of white privilege (the White House) is FOREVER, and that may open the floodgates to an equal playing field which frightens the racist. What, no automatic bonuses for being white? The racist needs to protect that privilege for future generations at all costs, even if it means braving a depression or two.

^ If you want to put race in it, then our largest counties will all vote Democratic because they are very heavily populated with African-Americans who are voting for Obama at something like 90%.

We continue to vote in Democrats (even the ones who aren’t so great), and we will vote a Democrat into office this time. Trust me. When people get in the polls they will NOT vote for another Republican.

I’ve traveled to many different parts of Michigan this summer, and you just have to believe me that no matter what the polls say, there is no way that all these unemployed people are going to vote for the person that they’ve done so poorly under.

Besides, don’t trust polls of any sort. They say our unemployment rate for Wayne County (where Detroit is) is only like 6-7%. Talk to anybody in power and they will openly admit that it is well into the double-digits.
