High school: a small public school in New York
also, my sister attends this university so I have legacy
I don’t chance but:
- Your ACT is at the 25th percentile per the class profile. https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/classprofile/2023
- you are only a legacy if one of your parents graduated from Columbia – having a sister there does not make you a legacy. https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/ask/faq/question/2412
You have many strong qualities and I hope you are a successful applicant but I’d recommend that you give up the idea of a dream school and work to create a solid college list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (find out your parents’ budget and run the net price calculator for each school) and that you would be excited to attend. The people I see who get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on one or two hyper-competitive schools and then don’t get in.
Why no chance? She has perfect stats and extracurriculars for Columbia.
The stats aren’t perfect, the 33 is on the low end for Columbia, but within range, so probably not a big issue. Female engineering will help a lot, so I think your chances are pretty good.
