I didn't really apply myself in high school and am 4 years removed from it. I have really worked hard now and that's the case I made in my personal statement. What's my outlook, good, mediocre, or bad?

You’re not a shoe-in, but I’d say you’ll probably get in. I had friends with similar predicaments transfer into LAS. You’re ACT score is kind of low, but I’m not sure they really look at that for transfers. Your GPA and organizational posts should be enough.

What do you mean by “59” hours? Is that what you already have finished and will have more when you actually transfer or is it the amount you will have when you transfer? That number can have some impact because its right on the cusp on whether they will consider high school record or ignore it. Any transfer who applies and will have junior standing when they actually transfer, meaning having 60 hours of transferable credit hours or more completed at time of actual enrollment in UIUC, is evaluated based on college performance and high school record and ACT score is ignored. For anyone transfering with less than 60 hours, they will include high school record and test score in the mix of things they can consider.

In any event the 3.82 gives you a decent shot but no guarantee.

drusba - I currently have 43 credits and am taking 16 credits this semester. So I will have a total of 59 complete when I enroll. 3 hour will defiantly not transfer and 6 others probably won’t. (I’m not really sure if that matter until I’m admitted) So of course I had to submit my high school records, but the status page of my application says I am a “Transfer Junior.”

sang54 - UofI requires transfer with less then 30 credits to submit their ACT. If you fall into the 31 to 59 range they strongly recommend that you submit your test scores. Either way once I submitted my app and checked my application status page, they already had a record of my scores that I had submitted to UIC 5 years ago. (which was freaky but very convenient)

Thanks to everyone who posted! I now know to be cautiously optimistic. I’ll come back and post my fate when the decision comes down.
