And VaTech will be REALLY close. If you're in-state, you'll probably get in. OK chance if you're OOS.

Just my predictions, good luck..

Why is everyone saying I have a better chance at USC (in fact a decent chance) than UVA? Do they consider legacy that much?

I dont think you have a chance at either

Dont waste your money, or at W & M either.

accepted george mason, I think it's your only real definite.

Lehigh, USC (even with legacy), UW (CS there is highly ranked), UVa, W&M...all significant reaches mostly because of gpa.

Union, Md, Northeastern...reaches too but more possible esp Northeastern

Decent chance for JMU and VTech maybe 50-50.

nicola: why do u keep posting ur stats? u have like 20 threads just dedicated to ur chances at certian schools? dont waste the money on sc, w&m,udub, lehigh, or uva, u wont get in.

No chance at V Tech because they consider GPA the most and my GPA is my weakest aspect. The smaller private ones though at least consider other parts of the application. I looked at the admissions factors of Lehigh and it seems like they consider the essay and recommendations and extracurriculars as highly important. Anyhow, UW is like Tech and Maryland; I think my chances JMU are pretty good and same with GMU (they already took me in for a summer course; hs students needed 1200+ SAT scores and a hs transcript submission.

Anyways I think the best match for me is Union College but I dunno how good their CS department is. USC is my dream school but my chances there are < 1% even with legacy, same with UVA. I dunno though... do you guys think I'll get accepted to at least one or two besides Mason and Madison?

again, no chance at union.

You have no chance at William and Mary. Ain’t gonna happen, unless you’re hiding something really astounding from us all - (I’m talking Pulitzer Prizes, Hugo Awards and/or a personal endorsement from Jesus H. Christ. Preferably all three).

If you REALLY want to know your chances precisely, try www DOT ****** DOT com, you’ll have to pay, but they guarantee 94% accuracy. I’ve used them before and they seem to spit out a very accurate number, although I won’t be able to confirm its accuracy until I get an acceptance letter :P

I think you’ll only get in as Mason… but my friend with basically the same stats got waitlisted there. You’ll hopefully get waitlisted at JMU… but, I live in VA also, and they advise everyone in my school not to apply at JMU unless you have over a 3.6. And you need a 4.0 for UVA and W&M, even in-state. I think basically everything is a big reach with your GPA :frowning: I hope it all turns out alright though… good luckk.

oy vey…this thread is from 2005…hahahaha

I’m sorry if that was mean, but I go to HS in Northern VA, and I’m applying to JMU and UVA and I’m not even sure if I’m going to get in with a 4.0 and similar SATs. I hope your good ECs and essays help!!! It’s all a game, I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere

George Mason - match

James Madison - match

Virginia Tech - high match-low reach

Northeastern- high match-low reach

U. Washington - Big Reach

Lehigh - Reasonable Reach

Union College - Reasonable Reach

U. Maryland - Match

William and Mary - Doubtful… HUGE reach

U. Virginia - unfortunately dude, don’t even bother w/ this one (IMPOSSIBLE)

U. Southern California - HUGE Reach

Your GPA destroyed your chances at these top schools… they might like the backstory, but that won’t cut it for them; I say you get into 1/2 of your schools, and for the other, expect deferrals, or in the case of UVA and USC, flat-out rejections; the transcript looks good, the EC’s are what might help you; they’re extremely impressive… your SAT’s are good for 3/4 of your schools; I’d try to take them one last time; your essay sounds like it has the potential to be really good, and you should be happy; although, I think you’re reaching way too much with UVA, USC, and maybe even UWash; they’re all top-notch schools and, the second they look at your GPA, you’re prob done

HAhaahahaha i know i just realized that and I feeel sooooo stupid!

You will be lucky if you are waitlisted at Northeastern which i highly doubt. Its a big reach.

I would say VERY high reach for Northeastern and USC, ditto for W&M. I have a 4.0+ with 1930 SATS and am not excpecting to get into UVA, but being in-state your chances are a lot better.

so i just thought id throw this in here since the first kid did
I’ve applied ED to Virginia Tech and I was just wondering what my chances were?
I listed that I want to major in Engineering and I have a low GPA that is 3.5 unweighted but it’s because my freshmen and sophomore GPA’s were low and my Junior year was significantly better and my senior year first quarter gpa is a 3.85 unweighted which ive sent in
I sent in my ACT scores and they only look at math and english, so combined i have a 29
Also im a 2 season captain and im president of many other groups in and out of school
I just wanted to know what you all thought because Ive read that engineering will lessen your chances of getting it but I was told that it could only help because im a girl applying for engineering?
thanks so much!
