Rate my chances, you know you want to

So what are my chances for Carnegie Mellon. I want to apply to the MCS. I know it's a big reach but here's my stats:

GPA: 3.38 (186/406) I know it's horrible, but i think i can get a pretty good grade this semester an it'll raise my GPA. I take the toughest courses that i can.
SAT I:710M/660V
Will take SAT II's in December.

EC's:
Four years tennis
Tutor
2 years band
summer volunteering
physics club,
DECA
That's about it.

I have good recs from my teachers and counselors. Carnegie mellon only needs 1 teacher rec right? So please tell me what my chances are.

What school at CMU are you applying to, and what is your WEIGHTED GPA?

The mellon college of science. My school doesn't weight./

Cd8705, how many honors and AP courses have your taken out of how many courses total? Exclude gym from your computation

Also, read my post that deals with "overview of my CMU visit." It lists the average SATs for each college. In the college of science, the median SATS are 720 math, 660 verbal. Thus, you are certainly in the range for admitted applicants.

Average GPA unweighted is arouind 3.5, which assumes that you are taking mostly honors courses. If you are taking mostly honors courses and have around 3.38 as you stated, I would give you about a 50-50 or maybe even 60-40 shot due to your low GPA.SAT wise, you are clearly in the running.

This all assumes that you have taken mostly honors subjects in math and science. If you didn't, I would think that your chances are slim.

I have taken 8 honors and 7 AP courses. I have always taken honors in math and took honors chem and now AP chem.

Based on what you told me, I would estimate your chances are pretty good for being accepted. However, you won't get merit scholarships. You may qualify, however, for need based scholarships if you have the need.

You're in! My D had similar stats and got in last year. But then again...she's a girl! Try though.
