As most of you know, I am trying to get into Kelly, and thus maximizing my chances using loads of research on this fine site (A2Wolves6, you are a king to me!). What chances do you give me at achieving at least B's in all of these said classes?

I’m assuming you are waitlisted on G100 and have X100 under drop if enrolled?

Doesn’t K201 require that you sign up for a lab on Friday’s? I would assume you just didn’t include it on this post, because it’s showing up as a 2 credit class here.

I really hate signing up for classes and not knowing what professor I am going to have. I would take BUS-X 104 instead of CMCL-C 121 because of this, you know what you’re getting. All of the professors for BUS-X 104 averaged higher than a 3.4 GPA for their classes, however there are plenty of professors in CMCL-C 121 that are much lower than that.

As far as the G.E.'s go, you could probably do a lot better than Steiman-Cameron, his/her average GPA is a 2.85 for her classes.

Gass’ Z201 class (2.838) grades much worse than his Z401 class (3.379). 2.838 is not very high for a G.E. Z101 isn’t bad, average GPA 3.3. Lugger’s A105 class is a 2.772.

If I was doing it, I would try and get out of the G.E.'s you signed up for and find easier one’s. The classes you’re waitlisted on aren’t classes that grade easily. They all have an average GPA below a 2.9. I would also switch from CMCL-C121 to BUS-X 104.

It is a wait list. Bus-g 100 is full(go figure), but if it opens up it replaces the BUS-X 100 class.

I decided that taking finite calc would be a risk. I am applying for spring admit to kelly and so I need to do my best during my fall classes.

How are the astro classes? And should I replace the CMCL-C 121 class with maybe BUS-X 104?

When I went to orientation (june 18-19th) they said that bus-x104 was
maxed out and that I was lucky since I was one of the last ones to get
it.

Rest of it looks good. I love how you have no morning classes hahaha.

Ya, its the best part of my schedule by far!! :D

Who do I talk to in order to get my previous school’s Access/Excel course to count for credit against Bus-K 201?

It was basically the same exact thing… I don’t understand why I have to take it again!

BUS-X 104 is not maxed out, it’s just that there’s no time available other than 8:00am.

Lol, my point exactly. :P

I am a really bad morning person, if x-104 is fun/easy enough for a guy like me to do well in even while half asleep maybe, I’m set for it!

I complain too much, here is my revised course list

I would add GEOL-G 103. It’s a TuTh class from 5:30-6:35 and the average GPA is a 3.565. 47% of the students got A’s in the class, 61% got an A- or better. 12 credits is really not enough to keep you interested.

I’m starting to think CMCL-C 121 may be a better option. It’s a risk when you’re signing up for a professor that you don’t know, but 8:00am is brutal when you’re not waking up until 2:30 on TuTh. Most CMCL-C 121 professors grade 3.4+, it’s a few that really are bad with their grades.

What you can do is sign up for CMCL-C 121, wait to see who the professor is that you get assigned to, and if it is someone bad, just add BUS-X 104 because the spots in the 8:00am class aren’t going to be taken between now and the start of school (no one wants an 8:00am class).

I’m sorry that I’m giving conflicting advice here, BTW I wouldn’t worry about BUS-G 100, you’ll get in that class if you’re 1st on the waitlist, and if not, you can just get a departmental override from the professor.

Is this the right distribution? He’s the only professor available.

Dunning is the guy. Any teacher that grades .5 points above the average student GPA enrolled in the class is an easy grader. I’ve had many friends take him and all say it was an easy A.

K, I’ll def. take a look at that class.

history of rock n’ roll is a very tough class. it requires lots of memorization. but if your interested in it do take it. just know that it requires a tremendous amount of preparation for exams. the professor plays parts of a song and he expects you to know the name of the song and the artist. you’ll cover many artists during the semester.

take x100 with myron kanning if you can and k201 lab with jim anderson if you can. your stuck with amy kinser for k201 lecture. go to lecture and get the clicker points. its extra credit and there aren’t many extra credit opportunities besides this and the knowledge checks in the lab.

yorkshirebanker… on a rate of 1 - 10 how hard is the history of rock n roll.. 10 being the hardest

This k201 class is really giving me the creeps. Why is it so hard? I’ve taken an access/excel class before and did fairly well even thought it was considered a weeder…

It’s a lot of work, a lot of it learning material on your own because the classes are more so meetings and questions. Also the classes move very quickly. I’d take it at a CC (Ivy Tech who offers it online) and transfer it in if you can, but lots of kids have to get into Kelley and use it as an admissions course.

I have my math 119 and English requirement done, and thinking of the “transfer in” loophole I have initiated a conversation with The university of phoenix online to take the math 118 requirement. The only thing that keeps me from jumping on this is from a former thread talking about how “distance learning” for such a class isn’t allowed…

Now i have 3 options:

See if I can take the m-118 equivalent online with UP

Apply for online K-201 for Ivy Tech (which seems the right course of action)

or bite the bullet and take a chance in IU with either of these courses…

Do I have the correct understanding of my options here?
