Do you think that I should get more involved? I am concidering doing DECA or math club next year. As a sophomore I don't have any leadership positions yet but plan to get some. Do colleges look at how long you have been in a club and if you are on varsity or not? My school has a really good lacrosse team and I will probably not make varsity until senior year after college Aplications are due.

As a sophomore you are well-rounded in ECs. Maybe you should plan on becoming internal delegate (basically highest leadership position) for MUN in your junior/senior year as I am one, although I’m working on my speaking skills. Some colleges look at how long you’ve been in a club but more important: how active you are in your club(s). Being productive and contributing such as helping fundraise or creating a project for your club is what they look for. I’m not sure regarding varsity. Hope my response helps.

Thanks. I am actually not in MUN yet but plan to join next year. In your opinion could I still get a leadership position for senior year if I really put a lot of work into it? I know a good amount of people in the club and have a really good relashionship with the teacher who runs it if that helps.

You are pretty well-rounded but what colleges look at most is if you really had an extracurricular activity that you were passionate about and want to pursue in college. In your case, lacrosse or tutoring could be an example.

Bump

i woudnt worry as much about having the most clubs, but rather your commitment to them and if they’re in depth. I would rather have 3 activities that I’m super interested in, and really put efforts into making it better. For example, if u do lacrosse it would be super helpful if you played at a higher level, not just for fun. You could also try winning some awards through your activities, as it’s a good indicator of your interest and talent.
